What is a credit score?

A credit score is a determined by each of the three major credit bureaus from information found in your credit file. Scores can be different at each bureau and range between 300 and 850. Lenders use these scores to determine who qualifies for a loan, at what interest rate and what credit limits. Your credit score is based on the following:

35% - Payment History
30% - Amounts Owed
15% - Length of Credit History
10% - New Credit (whether or not you are applying for and obtaining new accounts)
10% - Types of Credit in Use
